The impressive landmark next to Liverpool Street Station is a busy and well used urban space holding several events all year round. The square is surrounded with a mix of modern and classic office buildings and within the open area there is a mix of gardens, fountains and an eatery for visitors to enjoy.
As the project entered the pre-planning stage an extensive topographic survey was completed to outline existing features and supply lines. All surrounding buildings are to be drawn showing a range of detailed elevations and sections.
At underground level, a reflective ceiling plan is needed from the station that is situated below the square. For planning and construction purposes the mapping of utility lines and notable features is needed.
Cadplan’s surveyors were on site for 5 days using a Faro 3D laser scanner to register the extensive 3 level site taking over 130 scans. From the point cloud outputs, the CAD technicians will be able to draw highly accurate 2D drawings with the whole project to be completed in 5 weeks.
